DALLAS, TX – Looking for some of the best engagement session locations in the Dallas and Fort Worth area? Look no further! This list will help you choose the perfect scenery to tell your love story during your engagement session. Why do I recommend doing an engagement session?

I absolutely love doing engagement sessions with my clients before their wedding day. It gives my couples a chance to get to know me better as their wedding photographer and also to get some fun portraits that are a little more relaxed and creative. For example, my engagement sessions are full of laughs, cuddles, kisses and exploring new areas while having a great time – kind of like going on an awesome date! Engagement sessions are also a great way to get comfortable in front of the camera. As a published Dallas wedding photographer, my priority is to make sure my clients have fun while capturing important, intimate moments that they will be able to cherish for years to come.

When choosing the best engagement session locations in Dallas, consider these three things:

What scenery fits my style?

Absolutely loving that city vibe? Opt for a more urban location for your engagement session. Feeling a little more boho chic? Choose a gorgeous nature setting for free spirited vibes. Love clean, bright spaces? A natural light studio might just be for you. Make sure you consider what season it is as well. Spring (March-May) and Fall (September-November) are the most popular times for scheduling engagement sessions in Dallas.

What color and style of clothing do I want to wear?

Generally, I recommend neutral tones coupled with natural scenery and bolder colors for urban scenery. Layering is a great way to get multiple looks in one session. Pro tip: If you choose to wear heels or uncomfortable shoes, bring an extra pair of slip ons for walking in between locations.

What time of day should I schedule my engagement session?

This will depend on your availability and photographer. Most of my engagement sessions are photographed during “golden hour” or the hour right before sunset. Some locations do require an earlier time; for instance, a natural light studio has better light from 10am-3pm and some locations get very busy during sunset, so choosing a sunrise engagement session may be a better option.

Arbor Hills Nature Preserve – Plano, TX

White Rock Lake – Dallas, TX

White Rock Lake has a variety of scenery. From grassy fields to wooded areas, lakeside docks and even a cute boat house, this area is one of my favorites. I recommend meeting at T & P Hill as a starting point.

Downtown Dallas – Dallas, TX

Deep Ellum – Dallas, TX

Rockledge Park – Grapevine, TX

Rockledge Park requires a $50 photography permit and a $10 entrance fee.

Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden – Dallas, TX

The Dallas Arboretum is a beautiful option year round. In September and October, there is a pumpkin village and of course, during the Spring there are tons of brightly colored blooms! The arboretum costs $30 per person for parking and your ticket, so keep that in mind when choosing this location.

The Lumen Room – Dallas, TX

The Lumen Room Dallas has two natural light studio options, White or Red. The studio is furnished with a range of items and is $75 per hour. The studio must be reserved in advance online.
